ALOHA FROM MARGARITAVILLE

Wednesday, October 23, 2024

Be sure to come check out the LUAU party at Margaritaville Cafe! This FREE event starts at 6pm. There will be hula hoop contests from 6pm-7pm, and pass the coconut contest from 7pm-8pm. LUAU attire is a MUST! Want to get painted to match the LUAU theme? I will be there to help you get painted in party island vibes. They will have drink specials and some amazing eats. I hope to see you there! 500 Duval Street, Key West.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE

SKIN PREP
On the day of the body painting, DO NOT wear any product on your skin where you are getting painted. No lotions, moisturizers, sun tan lotion, sun block, cocoa butter, tanning oil, bronzers, baby oil, perfume or body spray. These products make the paint not adhere to your body and rub off easily.

PHOTO REFERENCES

Please bring any reference pics with you the day of the painting. Even if you have already sent me photos as references.

PANTIES/BOTTOMS
If I am painting you below the waist, please bring underwear or thongs I can paint over. Target sells plain nude seamless underwear for just $5 (they are located in the bins, not on the rack). They take the paint great - meaning, red paint doesn't turn pink. Again, get the nude color... not white, and not black (paint won't show up on the black).  Make sure they are plain (not lace fabric).

COVER-UP
If you are body painted, always have a cover-up with you when on the street. The safest bet is to have it on when you are on public property. If you do not and an officer tells you to cover up, say "yes, officer" and do it immediately. Do not argue. People can argue themselves from a warning to a ticket or worse. Common sense always prevails.

ARRIVE EARLY - BE ON TIME - DO NOT BE LATE
Set your alarm! Arrive 5 minutes before your appointment. Do not call me telling me you are running 10 minutes late. Simply be on time. You arriving 10 minutes late means I am starting 10 minutes late and that sets every appointment after you late throughout the ENTIRE day. If you are 15 minutes late past your appointment, you lose your spot - YES, EVEN IF you are one of my returning customers and/or paid the non-refundable deposit. So be on time or lose your spot. No exceptions!!! But I know you will be on time! You can do it!!! I am rooting for you!!!!

NO LAST-MINUTE EXTRAS
Often, the people I paint want extra "little" things added to their designs that were not requested during the appointment reservation. For example... some extra paint around the eyes, an entire face paint, extending a chest design around to the back, extra details such as flowers here and there, or wanting me to quickly paint their significant other's face as well. These "little" extra things take a lot of time to paint and throw off my schedule. Thus, if it isn't requested before you walk in, it's probably not happening.

ART TAKES TIMES
You can't rush great art! I am a body paint artist... key word is "artist". As my collection of work shows, I like to provide amazing, fun art. Thus, sometimes I have to do my art thing and add some extra awesomeness to a design because I am in "the zone". As we have all heard the cliché, great art takes time. Thus, be patient. Don't make plans to be anywhere immediately after your painting (such as a contest you are entering, dinner reservations or a boat trip you have to be at the dock for before push off). I plan to give everyone the same amount of time and quality that it takes so that everyone I paint walks away looking nothing short of amazing. Remember, we are all at Fantasy Fest to have a great laid back fun time. This is also known as "Key West Time". It gets done when it gets done. Relax and enjoy the experience.

DURABILITY
The paint should last all day and night as long as you are careful with it. I will be using water resistant paints, but that doesn't make the paint fool proof. Friction, abrasive material, liquid (and moisture) is pretty much what can ruin the paint.  Just use common sense to keep your paint job looking sharp all day and night. Here are some examples of what can ruin the paint...

  • Hugging people

  • Posing with lots of people for photos (aka brushing up against people constantly)

  • Spilling tequila on yourself (why are you wasting tequila?)

  • Your friend spilling tequila on you (you need better friends)

  • Any type of liquid really (water, rain, showers, swimming pools, the ocean, breast milk - you kinky freak).

  • Cannonballing into hot tubs (where is my invite?)

  • Getting freaky (obviously)

  • Wearing all thousand pairs of beads that people gave you on the street (this is probably because you are a wild freak. I dig it.)

  • Majorly Sweating (whether it's humidity sweat or naughty time sweat... awe yeah!!!)

  • Wearing Clothes or Costumes over the paint (this includes wigs).

  • Sleeping in the Paint

  • Being mauled by a rooster (weird things happen in Key West... you never know)

TOUCH UPS

If anyone needs a touch up, I do charge a touch up fee. Touch Ups are Not Guaranteed, as I can only do these if time allows (I am not currently painting anyone and no one is currently in line waiting to get painted), so be careful in your paint.  Touch Ups are same day as paint jobs only. Here are my touch up fees....

  • Minor Touch Up Fee:  $50.  The paint got pretty smeared or is rubbing off.

  • Major Touch Ups: 50% of original Price

  • Redoing the Design: At this stage you have obliterated your design. Unfortunately, I probably won't have time to redo your design unless someone canceled that day. If I do have the time, the touch up fee is the original price.

PAINT REMOVAL

I will be using a lot of alcohol-based body paints (for durability). The suggested method for removing the body paint: Before getting wet, put liquid soap all over the paint. Massage it in really good. Then rinse off. If any paint residue is remaining you can use 91% alcohol to get it off. 99% alcohol works even better. I suggest a soft shower loofah and a nail scrubber to help with the removal.

MY CONTACT NUMBER
If you need to reach me by phone while in Key West, I answer texts faster than phone calls and voice mails, so please text me at 818-331-4905.

YOUR CELL PHONE #
Make sure I have your cell phone number in case I need to reach you while down in Key West. Also send me your email.

MY DEPOSIT POLICY / NO REFUNDS

All deposits are non-refundable (this includes if you cancel, pull a no show or show up so late that I couldn't paint you with enough time to start my next scheduled appointment). If for some reason I had to cancel for personal reasons - I would refund your deposit. If for some reason Fantasy Fest or the city shut down the body painting at FF - your deposit would move to the following year or other event or project - so you wouldn't lose the money.

RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE
I reserve the right to refuse service (or immediately end the paint session without refund) to anyone that is being rude, acting like a jerk, bitching and complaining, being a drunk a-hole, or is late for their appointment... so be nice and on time.

MARGARITAS, YOU SAY?

Don't forget, I do like margaritas. Good thing I am body painting at Margaritaville. :)

GET A PASHUR ORIGINAL

PASHUR... OFTEN IMITATED, NEVER DUPLICATED

Every year, dozens of body painters in Key West have my work hanging up in their window display as samples. Sometimes my logo is cropped out, and sometimes not. If you ask them if they painted the design in the picture (which is my work), they will usually say "yes". Make sure if you want a Pashur original, then get painted by Pashur!
